A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT:
Dear Colleagues:
On beginning our venture for the 2006-2008 period of the Mexican Clinical Neurophysiology Society, I would first like to thank you for depositing your trust in all of us to guide our dear Society. Our first steps will be cautious, we will analyse our predecessors formula on their many successes but also so as to learn from their few mistakes. The titanic job performed by Drs. Romero, De la Maza and Fraire looms as an impossible challenge, but be sure we will try our best in doing it as well and even better if it's possible. Our work plan was presented extensively in the Society's General Assembly as the closing activity during the very succesful Oaxaca Congress, so I'll just outline the most important points:
Participation: Our Society requires a more active attitude from all of it's members in order to keep growing. The effort of few is not enough to reach the proposed bi-annual goals. We kindly ask for everyone's collaboration, sparing a little time to your Society's activities as well as keeping your dues current.
Academic Activities: A single-topic course will be held during the second semester of 2006, as well as two more in 2007, culminating with the 2008 Congress. We welcome theme and topic suggestions deemed important for clinical practice or relevant in the evolution of Clinical Neurophysiology. We will also coordinate the "Tech's CNP diplomate", again with full credit support from the Metropolitan Autonomous University. We will try to have a more prominent place in other states of the country by means of "Refresher Courses" held with local Medical Schools as well as with local Medical and Neuroscience Associations.
Interinstitutional Links: It is very important to strengthen our bond with the IFCN, it's Latin American Chapter and as well internally, with our beloved National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
We will have made a good effort if we reach these goals in keeping the steady growth of our numerically small but long-in-tradition Society. Remember that in 2008, The Mexican Society and Mexican Board of Clinical Neurophysiology turn 40, let's celebrate this anniversary with a huge academic party in which our desire is that everyone of you will participate.
